Every year on August 15, Independence Day is observed to celebrate freedom from British rule after years of slavery. This day marks the end of British rule and the beginning of free and independent India. This day is a national holiday. On this day people pay homage to their leaders and those who fought for India’s freedom in the past. On the eve of Independence Day, the president delivers the “Address to the Nation”.
